MARYLAND LAWYER, IRWIN KRAMER, TAKES LYDIA LAWLESS, MARYLAND BAR COUNSEL, TO TASK FOR HER UNACCEPTABLE TARGETING OF DAWN R. JACKSON AN AFRICAN AMERICAN LAWYER LICENSED TO PRACTICE LAW IN THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA

UPDATE 1/2022 —-

THE COURT DISMISSED THE CASE AGAINST MS. JACKSON

Shame on Lydia Lawless for bringing this case in the first place.

The Maryland Court of Appeals recently heard testimony in a case involving DC Lawyer Dawn R. Jackson. Mrs. Jackson practices law solely in the District of Columbia, but maintains her office in Prince George’s County, Maryland. In 2015, Ms. Jackson was provided advice by then Bar Counsel on how to best comply with Maryland law respecting her office. She was provided advice, complied with said advice, yet, years later, Ms. Lawless filed charges against her for the same conduct.

In fact, Ms. Lawless waisted judicial resources by sifting through years of records in her attempt to find the smoking gun. At trial, the Circuit Court of Maryland, dismissed most of the charges. At the hearing, Ms. Lawless is appealing the dismissal and is eviscerated by Mr.  Irvin Kramer, who passionately pleas with the court to dismiss the appeal.

The video is cometic to watch, as Ms. Lawless is blank faced, and shocked, to say the least. It is evident that Ms. Lawless and her office, The Maryland Attorney Grievance Commission, was on a witch hunt to take the license of this African American Lawyer. Shame on her!!!

You will note, that Ms. Lawless is also being accused of targeting Baltimore City State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby. In fact, Ms. Mosby’s Lawyer reported to the Baltimore Sun that “Shortly thereafter, with no basis and/or allegation of wrongdoing, Bar Counsel for the Attorney Grievance Commission, Lydia Lawless, began requesting the exact same tax and business records originally requested by Isabel Cumming. Despite the lack of evidence that my client engaged in any unethical practices, Mrs. Mosby in good faith produced her and her husband’s tax returns dating back seven years, but per the advice of counsel declined to provide Lydia Lawless with subsequently requested supporting documents that were well outside the scope of her purview and jurisdiction. The present federal investigation against Mrs. Mosby, which was initiated and approved under the Trump administration⁴, is an eerily similar tax inquiry which may not have been procedurally referred to the United States Attorney’s Office by the Criminal Tax Division of the Department of Justice, but rather we believe is the result of a referral made by Lydia Lawless⁵, an individual who has unceasingly investigated and required my client to defend her law license against numerous unfounded grievances since the charging of six police officers in the death of Freddie Gray“. This appears to be a pattern.

In 2021, the California Bar conducted a study and determined that there was implicit bias and treatment in the discipline of minority lawyers. It appears, at least based on the video, that the Maryland bar is engaging in what appears to be similar conduct.
